Our classes and teachers

The Pre-Ballet program

The Pre-Ballet Programme  is for 4-6yr olds. The programme was designed and is taught by Marié Coyte-King who has a degree in early childhood education with specialist in music and movement. She has 30yr experience in teaching early childhood music and movement.

Ballet Grades

Ballet graded classes

are for ages 7-18yrs and beyond.

Whether ballet is learned for recreational or vocational purposes it requires a lot of discipline to learn the correct technique and artistry. We are using the Borovansky Russian style syllabus which is graded to suit all types of dancers. Exams are offered but not compulsory.

Ballet class will also include dances such as christian themes and excerpts from famous ballets which are explored throughout the year. These classes are taught by Amelia Coyte-King owner of the ballet school.

Pointe work

It is a lot of student's dream to dance on point shoes. For some it's harder than for others, as it requires a lot of strength and good technique. Generally from age 13 a student can commence point work training, in consultation with the teacher and a physiotherapist. To prepare for this, two classical ballet classes per week is required from around age 11/12. Please talk to the teacher if that is something you want to pursue.

Jazz

Our Jazz classes are fast and active as well as slow and expressive. Jazz dance style choreography often done to popular music. It includes stretches, isolations, kicks, and creative movement activities that are good for balance, coordination, and musicality.
