How to get ready for a ballet concert

Hair

  • In a Ballet bun at back of the head. All Wisps and fringes hair sprayed back or gelled. 

Make up

  • Foundation/base, eye shadow in brown tones, black eye liner top eyelid, Red-toned lipstick Non-smudge. 
  • Juniors: make up not compulsory, powder over face, red toned lipstick Non-smudge.

Jewellery

  • No jewellery, Little everyday ear studs acceptable.

Leotard

  • Come in your leotard and tights with a front-opening shirt/jumper and skirt or soft pants over to protect tights and leotard. 


  • Costume will be provided and belongs to Miss Amelia.

Tights

  • Salmon pink ballet tights.

Shoes

  • Pink canvas or leather ballet shoes, come in regular shoes so as not to damage the ballet shoes. 

How to make a Ballet bun

Step 1

Step 1

Start by brushing out the hair, smooth out and make a high ponytail, gel/pin back fringes. This is the centre of your bun.

Twist in a flat bun, use slide/U pins to keep it flat. (don't make a doorknob)

 Put a hair net over. 

If you have very thin hair, don't twist just tease the ponytail and put it in the hair net. (next steps the same)

Use slide/U pins to secure in at least eight spots around the bun.

Start by putting in the pin vertically to the bun and then pushing it down horizontally into the bun.

For concert, spray with hair spray, make sure there are no flyaways.
